Sneem Secret Harbour is a luxury self catering hideaway located 3km from Sneem village in the exclusive area of Oysterbed, and just 2km from Parknasilla about which George Bernard Shaw wrote..."I tell you this place does not belong to any world that you and I have ever worked or lived in. It is part of our dream world".
We invite you to come and experience this very beautiful and very special part of Kerry from the comfort and convenience of Sneem Secret Harbour. The house caters for a maximum of 6 guests in 3 beautifully furnished en-suite bedrooms. Eco-friendly geothermal under floor heating throughout provides a luxurious level of comfort. Quality furnishings and top of the range modern appliances all provide the highest standard of self catering and the contemporary wood burning stove in the living room adds even extra comfort. WiFi, smart TV, books, games, art materials - there is entertainment for all tastes.
Outside
The south facing aspect of the house enjoys sunshine all day long. Floor to ceiling windows and doors open from the dining area, living room and conservatory onto the south facing patio, blending the indoors and outdoors, and create a fabulous sense of space and light that flows through the entire house. Soak up the surrounding silence broken only by birdsong. Relax with a drink, read a book from our eclectic collection or capture your surroundings in a painting with the art materials provided. Enjoy al fresco dining. A private first floor deck and a separate viewing deck overlook the grounds and beyond, and provide breathtaking views of the sea and mountains. The decks provide a perfect spot for star gazing on clear nights when you can enjoy the awesome beauty of Kerry's Gold Tier Dark Sky Reserve, one of only 4 designated areas on the planet!
Inside
The interior is fresh and contemporary with a palette of colours, plants, pictures and furnishings that is rich, warm and welcoming, and wonderfully relaxing.
The house is in pristine condition and superbly equipped with all high quality furnishings and appliances to ensure your maximum pleasure and comfort.
With the utmost care and attention to detail, our aim is to offer guests the ultimate escape in the most comfortable, relaxing and beautiful surroundings so that you can truly make the most of every moment in this very special part of the world, this "little piece of heaven".
Living Room
The Living Room is lovely and large, and opens on to the south facing patio. The decor is cool and calm with under floor heating, a contemporary wood burning stove and a minimalist sense of space, light and tranquillity. A blend of subtle lighting and lots of beautiful furnishings provide comfort and elegance where you can relax and do some reading, listen to music, watch television, browse online, enjoy a movie.
The living room is decorated with original paintings by Irish artists and with photographs of some of Kerry's most beautiful scenery and wildlife, images all taken within 20kms of the house.
Kitchen & Dining
The kitchen and dining area reflect both function and style. Sunlight streams through floor to ceiling windows and doors that also lead on to the south facing patio and, from the elevated position of the house, provide wonderful views of the extensive grounds.
The kitchen is contemporary, very well organised and designed to provide maximum pleasure and effortless self- catering.
Touch control ceramic hob, integrated eye-level double oven, eye-level microwave, hip-height dishwasher and large fridge offer the best of modern convenience and efficiency.
Top of the range appliances and as much quality equipment and utensils as you could possibly require for your culinary exploits makes this a chef's dream kitchen.
Extra large pots are provided for cooking crab and lobster which can be sourced from local fishermen at nearby Oysterbed Pier.
There is a large supply of high quality glassware, crockery and cutlery, enough for at least 4 sittings of 6 guests, who can be comfortably seated at the commissioned hand crafted solid cherry wood table making dining at home a very pleasurable experience.
In the Utility room off the kitchen there is a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer, with additional work space and storage.
Conservatory
"We saw Dingle, Beara and Kerry peninsula, Killarney and Kenmare - all lovely, but the best was the view outside the conservatory window where we could watch the changing light and the tides come in and out".
This is a room for all seasons and one that you simply will not want to leave. The uninterrupted views are magnificent and provide an ever changing canvas of nature....blue seas, ebbing tides, evolving weather fronts, panoramic mountains, glorious sunsets, starry skies, moonlit waters, extensive grounds and woodland. These display an assortment of the most beautiful colours as the seasons change and are home to a charming selection of wildlife - deer, foxes, hares and rabbits, squirrels, otters, frogs and a large variety of birds.
Bedrooms
The 3 large en-suite bedrooms are blissfully quiet and tranquil and beautifully furnished with king beds (155cm), crisp white linen, soft white towels and luxury guest toiletries. Gold coloured curtains, blackout blinds, touch lighting and under floor heating all provide comfort and a really sound night's sleep. Wake up feeling refreshed and ready for a day in the outdoors exploring this beautiful part of Kerry.
The ground floor bedroom has a large en-suite with bath/shower while the two first floor bedrooms also have large en-suites with walk-in showers. One of these bedrooms opens on to the private deck - the perfect spot for reading or painting, enjoying a coffee or a romantic drink on a clear starry night.
